With masses of feathery lavender flower plumes and deep green lacy foliage, Amethyst Astilbe is superb on its own or adding dramatic background color to perennial borders and beds. Also ideal for naturalizing, it spreads quickly and forms broad clumps. Bring its beauty indoors by adding a plume or 2 to a cut flower arrangement. Astilbe thrives in shade or semi-shade and will naturalize in regular-to-moist soil. It is ideal for planting where most flowers won’t thrive. After flowers have stopped blooming for the season, Astilbe will continue to provide attractive fern-like foliage until fall.
